The photo geek crew congregated together tonight to play around with some lighting scenarios and expand our knowledge. Like anything in life it all comes down to practice, practice, practice. The more you experiment the easier the really basic stuff is. The blog we read about all this calls it your "bag of tricks". Perfect one thing, know it inside and out and you can pull it out at any time you want. Once it's in the bag, learn another one. Soon you have a bag full of tricks that you can immediately implement without any sort of fumbling around or guessing. Fumbling around and guessing is basically how we are spending 100% of our time at the moment. It's fun though.
PS: This isn't actually what it looks like BTW, I hammed this picture up for 606. |

"In Bruges" (It's in Belgium) is a really great, dark comedy out of the UK. Those guys may not know much about food but they really got this genre of film nailed down to perfection. We have some good American examples too like just about anything the Cohen brothers have done ("Raising Arizona", "Fargo") but we seem to do it a lot less as well as appreciate it a lot less. If you looks closely you can also see that I'm screwing around with the camera. I got my tripod today and it's wonderful. Living without it has been a pretty big pain. |

I wouldn't necessarily call it an "indy" movie, though that may be what it is. It just doesn't have that indie feel. It's a fun, interesting bank heist kind of a movie with some weird twists and turns but some pretty cheesy acting. If you don't let that distract you it's not bad. This is what I have planned for the evening as well as some laundry. Oh yeah...livin' the life.
Edit: The name of the movie is "How to Rob a Bank" because I'm a moron and forgot to mention it in the post. |

Manduh is running the bachelorette party tonight and we have a small part in that which is to make sure there's a booth for them to watch the karaoke proceedings. I did, however, totally space the 6:06 picture earlier though so I'm making up for it now with a really good Alex picture. Metro Pizza is still the best pizza in Vegas. This is a really scattered post but I'm not always good at concise eloquence but I'm working on it. We invented a word for that concept tonight, it's called conseloquence. |
